Ford customers will have fewer trips past the workshop in the future when it becomes possible to give the cars software updates with the "Power-Up" wireless technology. The Mustang Mach-E is the first model from Ford to receive a wireless software update with the new Ford Power-Up technology.
The many thousands of customers who will receive their new Ford Mustang Mach-E all-electric SUV over the next few weeks are among the first in Europe to receive a software update with several improvements wirelessly. In the future, these improvements to the car, both in terms of functions and improvements, will mainly take place in this way.
With the Power-Up system, Ford will wirelessly update a number of its models, with both new functionality and quality improvements. More than 6 million Ford vehicles are already prepared for this, as they are equipped with a modem. With the help of the technology, Ford becomes more understanding both on the individual customer's driving preferences, but also on any difficulties with the car - a piece of information that Ford uses to make continuous improvements through the 'Power-Up' technology.
According to Ford's calculations, as many as 33 million of their vehicles - both passenger cars and commercial vehicles - will receive this type of wireless update by 2028.
Ford invested in wireless technology that allows the update to take place at night so that you wake up to a car that has been improved. With Power-Up technology, the Ford company can do this quickly for millions of cars.
Ford's Power-Up software updates make it possible to update almost all of the vehicle's data modules; this means that Ford can continuously deliver new functionality and quality enhancements to its cars for many years to come. In the new Ford Mustang Mach-E, most things can be updated and improved throughout the car's life. It can be anything from better performance to new features and settings.
The first update of the new Mustang Mach-E all-electric SUV in Europe installs the Ford Sketch program (simple game with some drawing options) on the car's 15.5-inch touch screen. New features and improvements will follow in the future. Power-Up updates that Mach-E customers will receive over the next few weeks include new remote-controlled vehicle settings and new trip logs. SYNC4A, the infotainment system in the Mustang Mach-E, is also being improved in terms of navigation and voice control.
Ford will continuously announce which other Ford models will also benefit from the wireless updates. (via ford).
