Hyundai has just unveiled the all-new KONA, a game-changing electric car with advanced features that are set to spearhead the company's electrification strategy. As one of the most comprehensive products in the B-SUV segment, the KONA offers the widest range of powertrains, including an electric hybrid (HEV), internal combustion engine (ICE), sporty N Line versions, and an all-electric version (EV) with an estimated range of 490 km (WLTP).
In an unconventional move, Hyundai developed the KONA first as an electric car, in line with the company's goal to introduce 11 new electric models by 2030. "Hyundai KONA electric SUV will play an important role together with our IONIQ models in strengthening Hyundai's leadership in electric cars," says Jaehoon Chang, Hyundai Motor Company's President and CEO.
With its robust, dynamic design and scaled-up dimensions, the all-new KONA retains its iconic character and supports an active lifestyle for customers of all ages and generations. The Hyundai KONA EV also offers new technology and convenience features that provide a safe, connected, and comfortable experience, including dual 12.3-inch panoramic screens, a Digital Key 2 Touch, full OTA updates, and Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC).
Hyundai's latest SmartSense Advanced Drive Assistance System (ADAS) and safety systems, including Level 2 Autonomous Driving, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Blind-spot View Monitor (BVM), Remote Parking Assist (RSPA), and Driver Status Monitor (DSM), make the KONA one of the safest cars in the B-SUV segment.
The new Hyundai KONA features an EV-powered exterior design that creates a strong and dynamic impression. With a drag coefficient of just 0.27, the new KONA excels with aerodynamic performance without sacrificing style. Between the aerodynamic front and tailgate, sculpted wheel arches and parametric surfaces add character to sheer volume, while dynamic chrome lines bring the beltline together with the rear spoiler and its high-mounted integrated stop light (HMSL).
Inside, the Hyundai KONA offers a more spacious, versatile interior designed for various lifestyles. Based on the model's scaled-up dimensions and EV-based universal architecture, Hyundai Motor was able to design a larger "living space" to embrace a breadth of lifestyles. A floating horizontal instrument panel accentuates the driver-centric front row with integrated dual 12.3-inch panoramic screens that confirm the KONA's high-tech character. The fully folding rear seat and the luggage compartment provide up to 466 liters (based on VDA standard) in cargo capacity to meet customers' needs for improved loading convenience.
