It's electric, it's digital, and its design will win you over; the new Opel Astra Sports Tourer is the versatile car for the modern era. It continues our long tradition of compact station wagons while incorporating cutting-edge features like a hybrid powertrain that can be recharged on the go. The new Opel Astra Sports Tourer features an electric motor as standard equipment and highly efficient gas and diesel powertrains. The gasoline and diesel models produce between 110 and 130 horsepower, while the plug-in hybrid models produce up to 165 kilowatts (225 horsepower). Whether you choose a gasoline or diesel engine, you'll find a standard six-speed transmission between them.
The new Astra Sports Tourer is highly practical, with dimensions of 4,642 by 1,860 by 1,480 millimeters (L by W by H) and a loading sill of around 600 millimeters. It further solidifies Opel's position as a market leader in the station wagon category and showcases the company's expertise in efficiently utilizing interior space. Because of the shorter front overhang, the wheelbase is 2,732 millimeters, a gain of 70 millimeters despite the shorter overall length of the new model. Compared to the new Astra with five doors, this one's wheelbase grows by 57 mm.
When the rear seatbacks are up, the trunk space of the new Opel Astra Sports Tourer is 608 liters, and it can expand to a maximum of 1,634 liters. There's enough room for a medium-sized dog's carrier, for instance. In addition, the floor can be completely flattened by folding down the 40/20/40 split rear seatbacks (a standard feature). The lithium-ion battery for the rechargeable hybrids is located under the floor, so the 548 l (backs up) and 1,574 l loading volumes are always available (backs down). The Intelli-Space system, which is optional, maximizes trunk space in vehicles with internal combustion engines. This mobile loading floor can be adjusted from a high to low position or tilted to 45 degrees with just one hand. Also, the cargo cover can be stored in either the up or down position of the moving floor, which isn't possible with the competition.
