The new Skoda Octavia G-Tec runs on natural gas (CNG). With its 1.5 TSI engine, the Skoda Octavia G-Tec provides an output of 96 kW (130 hp) and achieves a range of approximately 500 kilometres. For this purpose, three natural gas tanks installed in the underbody store a total of 17.33 kg CNG. The Skoda Octavia G-Tec can also travel a further 190 kilometres with gasoline from the 9-litre tank. The new OCTAVIA G-TEC will be launched on the European market in autumn this year.
The extremely clean combustion of natural gas reduces CO2 emissions in CNG mode by around 25 per cent compared to gasoline operation, and significantly fewer nitrogen oxides (NOx) and no soot particles.
The vehicle only accesses the fuel level in certain situations, such as when the engine is started after refilling CNG (Compressed natural gas) or when the outside temperature is below -10 degrees Celsius, or when the level of the CNG tanks is so low that the tank pressure drops below 11 bar. The trunk volume is 455 litres for the sedan and 495 litres for the station wagon.
