The new Skoda Octavia RS will be available from September 2020. The new Skoda Octavia RS is available both as a five-door sedan with a large tailgate and as an even more spacious station wagon.
Visually, the Skoda Octavia RS differs from the normal Octavia versions by small but fine details, which clearly identify it as a special offshoot. For instance, the black grille is not covered by chrome, but by a black frame. The exterior mirrors are also in a shiny black, as are the borders of the windows. This alone results in a noticeably different appearance. New aprons on the front and rear, special rims and a small rear spoiler round off the visual appearance.
The Octavia RS is also quite dark inside. The dashboard is covered with fine Alcantara and the pedals in aluminium. Sports seats with integrated headrests and excellent lateral support are standard. The three-spoke steering wheel also distinguishes the RS from the regular Octavia variants. All Octavia RS roll on 18-inch rims, 19-inch models will be available for a surcharge.
Three engines: petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid
And under the hood? There are now three engine variants. The new Octavia RS is available as petrol, diesel and for the first time also as a plug-in hybrid. The Skoda Octavia RS iV can initially be ordered as a 2.0 TSI petrol engine with 245 Hp and as a 1.4 TSI plug-in hybrid with the same performance. Both are outfitted with the DSG automatic transmission as standard. The 2.0 TSI with manual transmission and the 200 hp Diesel 2.0 TDI (all-wheel drive) will follow at the end of October 2020.
With the TSI versions, the sprint from 0 to 100 km / h is performed in 7 seconds and top speeds of up to 250 km / h. The fastest is the 245 Hp petrol engine, which speeds up to 100 km / h in 6.7 seconds.
Skoda Octavia RS iV Hybrid
It will be particularly interesting to see how the plug-in hybrid version of the RS is received by buyers. After all, Skoda is breaking new ground with this offshoot - and in the minds of many drivers, plug-in hybrids are considered to be pure savings rather than fun versions.
The new Skoda Octavia RS iV Hybrid comes with a system output of 245 hp: 110 kW / 150 hp petrol engine and an 85 kW electric motor. Škoda does not yet provide any consumption information.
Sporty performance: top speeds of 225 km / h and 0 to 100 km / h in 7.3 seconds.
The 13 kWh battery of the RS iV is charged externally and allows up to 60 kilometres of purely electrical range.
Skoda does not yet provide prices, but the price-performance ratio should be great.
The year 2020 is an anniversary for the Octavia RS and in all these years about 260,000 buyers have opted for the Czech performance versions based on the Octavia!
