The new Skoda name: 'Kushak' originates from the ancient Indian Sanskrit and stands for king or ruler. The spelling with 'K' and 'Q' continues the same nomenclature of the SKODA AUTO SUV models KODIAQ, KAROQ and KAMIQ. Skoda is also planning the world premiere of the first series model based on the MQB-A0-IN, which was specially developed for the Indian market, in March 2021.
With the new Skoda Kushaq SUV, a new era begins for SKODA AUTO on the Indian continent. Skoda is solely qualified for all projects of the Volkswagen Group as part of the INDIA 2.0 project. INDIA 2.0 introduces a new design offensive beginning with the KUSHAQ with a total of four new compact cars from SKODA AUTO and Volkswagen. All are based on the MQB-A0-IN version of the modular platform that Skoda designed specifically for the requirements of the Indian market.
The naming of the Skoda KUSHAQ underlines the driving goals in the Indian market. "KUSHAQ" goes back to the Sanskrit language, an ancestral language of religion, art and science and is one of 22 official languages in India. ŠKODA AUTO has adapted the spelling of the word 'Kushak' for king or ruler to the nomenclature of its SUV models.
The Skoda Kushaq has a 'K' at the beginning and a 'Q' at the end, just like the successful SUV models Skoda Kodiaq, Skoda Karoq and Skoda Kamiq. The new SUV combines brand-typical advantages such as striking design, greatest comfort and safety as well as an excellent price-performance ratio.
